MELAKA: A total of 3,200 units of houses under the People's Housing Programme (ppr) and 3,500 units of affordable houses have been planned to be built in Melaka over the next five years.
State executive councillor (Exco) for Housing, Local Government and Environment Datuk Ismail Othman said the PPR scheme involved 2,800 units of terrace houses and the Sungai Putat 2 flats project which will offer 400 units.
The affordable housing scheme which would be privatised would offer units with sizes between 850 and 1,200 square feet with the ceiling price at RM150,00, he said when replying to a question from Tey Kok Kiew (DAP-Banda Hilir) during the state assembly sitting here on the 2nd of OCtober.
He added that there was a waiting list of 4,656 applicants for low and medium cost houses in the state.
Meanwhile, replying to a question from Md Rawi Mahmud (BN-Tanjung Bidara) on pig breeding in Kampung Baru Paya Mengkuang, the Exco for Agriculture and Entreprenuership Datuk Hasan Abdul Rahman said the state government had imposed strict conditions pertaining to pollution control, good farming practices, hygiene and emission of foul odour.
